Hayley Atwell discusses her role in Marvel’s Agent Carter

Earlier this month, we told you that the new Marvel series Agent Carter would be heading to ABC in 2015. Now, thanks to the good people over at Marvel, we now have some insight on the new series from one of the people who would certainly know best ; Agent Carter herself, Hayley Atwell.

Now, for those of you who are not quite familiar with the story of Agent Carter, we first meet her in Captain America : The First Avenger as she quickly finds her way into the heart of our favorite patriotic superhero Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America.

Here is a quick look at the synopsis for the series courtesy of Marvel.

It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.”

In her interview with Marvel, Hayley Atwell spoke about her feelings on being asked to return to the role after such a long time, and what she feels her responsibility to the character is.

“It’s surreal and humbling that the character you played four years ago, when you’ve done other jobs in other worlds and other genres and other countries, call you back and say ‘we want you here, we like you, and we want you to tell our story,’” she tells Marvel. “I feel there’s a responsibility to make sure that she’s what everyone wants her to be.”

Here is a look at her interview with Marvel about her role in the upcoming Agent Carter series.

Agent Carter will have an eight-episode run that will take place between the fall finale and the winter premiere of Marvel’s other venture on ABC, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have penned the script for the series, and will also serve as Executive Producers along with Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Reaper creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas.

Both Butter and Fazekas will be taking on the role of showrunners for the series.

As of this moment, there are no other details in regards to who may be asked to fill which role in the cast of the new series ; however, as the premiere date draws near, I am sure this information be made more readily available.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming Marvel’s Agent Carter series ? Do you think it will serve as a good supplement to the popular Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Furthermore, what do you think Hayley Atwell brings to the role of Agent Carter that makes her special ? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
